With the old favourites falling behind in the Tour de France, who should we now watch out for?
I am gutted to see Lance Armstrong so far behind at the moment after hoping he would come back and win the Tour again (being team captain again, etc). But falling off 3 times in one day is far from good and it looks like he won’t win it this time round at all now.
He is my all-time cycling Legend and with him out of the Tour I can’t really see any point continuing to watch it. It just feels like all the records have been achieved and that there is unlikely to be another Armstrong who wins so many times especially after all he’s been through.
Schleck and Contador. It is going to be a great race all the way to the final time trial. I think that if Schleck wins all the way to Paris there is quite a possibility that he can win for many years to come. but the competition between the two will most certainly be worth watching for the rest of the Tour.

I think it’s probably just natural testosterone. I, too, doubt that he would cheat.
Honestly, I think the French are just throwing a massive hissy fit ’cause they lost their own race to the Americans again. They tried to smear Lance Armstrong and now they’re doing it to this guy. They threw out some guys from Spain, too, who may or may not have been guilty of doping. I don’t want to be ugly, but it’s really sounding kinda childish….

Can Levi Leipheimer win the 2010 Tour De France since Lance Armstrong is so far back?
Will Lance’s last act of the Tour be to help his Radioshack teammate, Levi Leipheimer, win the Tour?
Lance repeatedly stated his 2010 Tour de France is “Finished”. He didn’t mean he was not going to ride anymore, only that he has no chance to win it after 3 crashes and injuries on Stage 8. He is now more than 13 minutes behind the leader, and took a bad tumble on Sunday. Lance and Team Manager Bruyneel both stated after the 8th stage that Lance will now ride in support of Levi Leipheimer, who was one of only 12 riders (out of 190) to finish in the lead group on Sunday despite helping Lance get back to the peloton twice. He is only 2 minutes back.
Lance will become a “Super Domestique” for Leipheimer now, and Levi will have the team helping him out when he has issues and Lance will ride up front and take the wind for him so he has a chance to win. Since Leipheim (8th, 2 minutes back) and Kloden (21st, 5+ minutes back) have lost much time and energy attempting to help Lance with the frequent disasters he has experienced, they will be in a much better position to ride for themselves and get help from the rest of Team Radio Shack. Both of these two cyclers are rated among the best in the world, and they should do well if they begin getting support instead of BEING support. I doubt either will beat Contador or Schleck, but they will be in contention if they remain healthy and are in a situation that may allow them to surprise some people. Two weeks is a long time and Leipheimer is a great Pyranees climber, so he has a shot at a podium finish or better with some luck and support.
