France Vacation Travel Guide

For most people, the country of France—with its extensive art galleries, quaint sidewalk cafés, and rich literary and artistic history—is synonymous with the city of Paris. But France offers many other exciting vacation destinations. Looking to expand the horizons of your next France vacation? Then why not visit one of these historic cities.

Bordeaux

The city of Bordeaux, which lies on the Garonne River in southwest France, is known for its lush vineyards and top-rated wineries, where some of the most expensive wines in the world are produced. The city is also home to the Grand Théâtre, one of the oldest wood-frame opera houses in Europe. In general, hotels in Bordeaux are much more affordable than those in Paris, with rates starting at around $70 per night.

Lyon

Located in east-central France in the region of Rhône-Alpes, Lyon is regarded by many as the culinary capital of France. Many of France’s most renowned chefs reside in Lyon, and the city boasts nearly 800 restaurants, with menus ranging from traditional French cuisine to sushi and world cuisine. Residents of Lyon often enjoy a morning mâchon, a breakfast snack consisting of charcuterie (bacon, ham, sausage, and/or terrines), which is usually accompanied by a glass of wine.

Marseille

The second most populous—and the oldest—city in France, Marseille lies on the southwest coast of France on the Mediterranean sea. The Vieux Port (Old Port), the city’s main harbor, attracts many visitors each day with its exquisite view of the sea as well as dozens of restaurants that line the waterfront. In addition, Marseille is a major center of French art, architecture, and history, and its museums display many of the finest collections in Europe.

While exploring options for your next France Vacation, remember to look beyond just Paris. While Paris maybe be for lovers, Bordeaux, Lyon, and Marseilles are for people who love France.

I need to make equations/inequalities on these word problems?

1. a video store charges a monthly membership fee of 9.50$, but the charge to rent each movie is only 1.00$ per movie. another store has no membership free but it costs 1.50$ to rent each movie. how many movies need to be rented each month for the total fees to be the same from either company?

2. a pro cyclist is training for the tour de france. what was his average speed in kilometers per hour if he rode the 174 kilometers from Laval to Blois in 4.4 hours?

3. sam earned 450$ during winter vacation. he needs to save 110$ for a camping trip over spring break. he can spend the remainder of the money on music. write an inequality to show how much he can spend on music.

No. of movies—m:
$9.50 + $1.00x = $1.50x
19 + 2x = 3x
x = 19

Answer: 19 movies

Proof:
$9.50 + $1.00(19 movies) = $1.50(19 movies)
$9.50 + $19.00 = $28.50
$28.50 = $28.50
———–
= 174/(4 2/5)
= 174/(22/5)
= 174(5/22)
= 870/22 or (870/2)/(22/2)
= 435/11 or 39 6/11

Answer: 39 6/11 kph OR 39.5 5/11 kph
———–
$450 – $110 ≥ m
$340 ≥ m
m ≤ $340

Answer: less than or equal to $340

tour de france 2009 wikipedia
Why does Tour de France get the publicity but not the Race Across America?

Tour de France: AVG 102 miles per day.
2,149 miles, completed over 21 days of riding with 2 additional rest days. The longest day is 139 miles, the shortest being 9 miles on the first day.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Tour_de_France

Race Across America: AVG: 377 miles per day..more grueling by far
3,021 miles completed in 8 days, 5 hours, 45 minutes
These guys never get to sleep a full night until AFTER the race!
